Art Therapy

“I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.”

- Georgia O’Keeffe

Art Psychotherapy

A challenging experience can easily affect our ability to talk. Words can get in the way or not express enough of what we are trying to convey. When words fail, art therapy can help.

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy where art materials are used as a primary means of communication and self-expression. This form of expressive therapy can be an effective treatment for people who want to deepen their connection to themselves or seek personal growth and for people affected by various mental health conditions as well.

Do I have to be good at drawing and painting?

You don't need to be skilled in drawing or painting to engage in art therapy. Your art therapist has the knowledge and skills to hold a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space and help you connect with your thoughts, feelings, and inner states and express them through the creative process.

Will the therapist analyse my images?

The answer is: No. The art therapist will not analyse or interpret your work. He will guide you instead to explore your images and help you find out what resonates with you so that you can reach your understanding, gain personal insight, and find the meaning in a life experience you are or have been going through. All you need is the willingness to explore and experiment.
